Europe 2005 - Andorra

We are now in the country of Andorra. Before you go running for the atlas I'll give a hint. It's in the Pyrenees mountains and the language they speak is Catalan. There is just enough French so couldn't understand it. Just enough Spanish to throw off a French speaker, and just enough of their own words to confuse someone who is bilingual. The hotel we stayed at was nice enough to have cards that had the basic words to use around town. The country is really only big enough to have one major city. The problem I see is that the population for the whole country is as big as the town that I grew up in (population 65,000). The hotel brochure explained the government system as 30 people that ran things.
Since the city is in the mountains it is very much built vertically. When we first got to the city we made the mistake of taking the elevator up one floor to much in the parking structure and ending up a block away from where we were expecting. To give you an idea we parked in the main parking structure. It is 8 stories tall, floor 0 has doors to the road to the south, doors to the west were on the 5th floor and the top served as basketball courts and had doors to the north.
We seem to have a knack for getting into the city during a celebration, here it was just called “Celebration Mejor” and this year it had a space theme. The banners around town showed Obi Wan with a light saber in one hand and a beer in the other. The celebration went on for 3 nights ending on July 3rd. We were there for the 1st which was just the warm up day, but we got plenty of fireworks to make up for being out of the country for July 4th.
